DR. KODJOE and MAMA AKOSUAH SUMNEY NAMED INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIANS OF THE YEAR
The 12th Annual Celebration of Excellence Awards Black-Tie Dinner & Gala provides a unique opportunity to recognize leaders, entrepreneurs, unsung heroes and heroines for their positive impact in the Inland Valley and Inland Empire. We commemorate as we honor and celebrate these extraordinary individuals, leaders and organizations.
The Sumneys donate much of their time to helping several people and organizations in the communities of United States, Africa and around the world. Mainly they have trained and taken over seven hundred (700) people to Africa for community and humanitarian work. Most recently, they have taken students from Azusa Pacific, Jackson State University, other organizations and churches to Mission Africa International Outreaches. In the midst of a recession, fifty people travelled with us last year to Ghana to offer community outreaches including community clinics for people with no access to hospitals.
As an Apostle, philanthropist and a missionary Dr. Sumney is known to donate his talent to the causes of Literacy Outreach. His passion and calling has put more than 250 children in school, who had no opportunity to go to school. All these will not be possible without the help of global partners who share our vision and passion he says.
"It's really important to remember that we all come from somewhere and that we all had need of help one way or the other and somebody somehow helped us," he said.
